In a Thai hotel you never know what you get for your money and I recommend you to have a look at any accommodation before you agree on price. You might get a room with air-conditioning or might not. On the other hand tourist hotels often come with swimming pools, outstanding 24 hour room service and satellite TV etc… pretty much in a resort style.
